MARGARET LARLHAM

Margaret was awarded the third place for her

Soft Pastel on sanded Paper

Passing Through.

About Margaret:

Margaret Larlham has enjoyed a rich career in the arts in her early years in South Africa and after emigrating to the USA.

Whether directing plays, choreographing dance works or teaching at the University of Natal in SA and San Diego State University School of Theatre she has been a constant plein air painter. In recent years she has taken opportunity and challenges to enhance and hone her skills in Plein Air Festivals (Borrego Springs, Sedona, Berlin, Oceanside) and in studio work through intensive courses. (e.g at the Florence Academy of Art.)

Her medium of choice is pastel. She has achieved Master Pastelist status in the International Association of Pastel Societies, (IAPS) and has received awards in important shows such as:

2021 ASPAS (Spain) First Place in Landscape for Hovering Breath

2021 Artist's Choice Award, Borrego Plein Air Invitational and Sedona Plein Air Festival

2021 Featured Artist, Oceanside Museum of Art Plein Air Festival

2020 Artist and Illustrators Award. The Pastel Society, U.K. Mall Galleries, London. Seeds of Change

2019 Bronze Award, Masters Circle Exhibition, IAPS, Albuquerque. Daniel Paused

About Passing Through:

Passing Through, Pastel (16"x20") is one of a series of explorations of paintings expressing the impressions of places whirling past on many road trips. (See https://margaretlarlham.fineartstudioonline.com/collections/148826.)

The rush of experience and the movement is captured in pastel washes and some focused observation of salient elements that caught my eye.
