2019 MEMBERSHIP EXHIBITION

ABOUT THE SHOW

This exhibition will be displayed in the lobby of the Lyceum Theater during the performance by the San Diego Repertory Theater’s presentation of Hershey Felder’s latest smash hit “Beethoven”.  The show will run from February 21 to March 24, 2019. Under the direction of Joel Zwick, the show is a celebration of the world’s greatest composer, BEETHOVEN. Felder has illuminated Beethoven and his 5th and 9th symphonies, Moonlight Sonata, Pathetique Sonata, Emperor Concerto, Fur Elise, and more, in a deep and revealing light. Hailed in both its premieres in Silicon Valley and Los Angeles as “Rapturous and exhilarating” by the Palo Alto Weekly; “A towering performance about a towering composer” by The Mercury News.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all current members of The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild. Only 2D wall hung work can be accepted: Painting, Photography, Fiber art, Bas Relief, Prints, Original Digital Art, etc. (No Sculpture, sorry). Submitted work must be original and must not have been exhibited in an Artists Guild exhibition in the past. NO REPRODUCTIONS or GICLEES. No copies of other artists’ works will be accepted.  NO EXCEPTIONS. 


JUROR: Sonya Sparks, Sparks Gallery Owner

Sonya Sparks studied art in conjunction with obtaining her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego. After working in international business and web development, she felt it was time to start something new. Sonya launched the Sparks Gallery in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter in 2013 in the historic Sterling Hardware Building and was awarded the 2015 People in Preservation Award for Adaptive Reuse by Save Our Heritage Organization (SOHO). ABOUT THE SHOW

This exhibition will take place at Gallery 21 in Spanish Village, Balboa Park. It will be juried by Richard Becker of San Diego. All San Diego area artists over 21 years of age are eligible to enter. All accepted work is to be hand-delivered and picked up(no mail deliveries are accepted).

ELIGIBILITY

Open to ALL ARTISTS OVER THE AGE OF 21 who can hand-deliver and pick-up artwork at Gallery 21. Three-dimensional sculptures and two-dimensional wall-hung work acceptable: Painting, Photography, Fiber art, Bas Relief, Prints, Original Digital Art, etc. Submitted work must be original and must not have been exhibited in an Artists Guild exhibition in the past.NO REPRODUCTIONS or GICLEES. No copies of other artists’ works will be accepted.  NO EXCEPTIONS. 

JUROR: RICHARD BECKER

Richard Becker is an elected member of the National Sculpture Society and the SDMA Artist Guild. He has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions and has been a technical collaborator with art institutions including The Getty and The National Gallery London. Primarily a commission sculptor, Becker’s paintings and sculpture span the serious to the playful. His collectors include The Walt Disney Co., 20th Century Fox, The US National Cemetery Administration, various cities, The Scripps Research Institute and The Emmys.
