Hugh M. Davies is recognized internationally as a scholar in the field of contemporary and modern art. Davies served from 1983 to 2016 as director of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, and was named Director Emeritus by the museum’s trustees in 2016. While directing artistic and administrative activities of MCASD, Davies curated or co-curated numerous exhibitions including: Phenomenal: California Light, Space, Surface (2011-2012), Robert Irwin: Primaries and Secondaries (2007), Francis Bacon: The Papal Portraits of 1953 (1999), and William Kentridge: Weighing…and Wanting (1998). Davies was one of six co-curators who organized the Biennial 2000 at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and in 1976 he served as Director of the U.S. Exhibition at the 37th Venice Biennale. From 1975 to 1983 he was the founding director of the University Museum of Contemporary Art (formerly the University Gallery) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and from 1984 through 2016, he was a member of the Association of Art Museum Directors, a Trustee from 1994-2001, and President from 1997-1998.
Davies is currently a member of the Francis Bacon Authentication Committee, which published the artist’s Catalogue Raisonne in 2016. His doctoral dissertation on Francis Bacon was later expanded and published by Garland Press, and he has subsequently published extensively on Bacon’s work. Davies received his A.B., summa cum laude, (1970), M.F.A. (1972), and Ph.D. (1976) from the Department of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University.

All two-dimensional and three-dimensional works are eligible.

WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES.
Submitted works must be original and not have been
previously exhibited in an Artists Guild exhibition.
NO REPRODUCTIONS, NO VIDEOS, and NO COPIES of
other artists’ works will be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS!
1st Place: $1,000 • 2nd Place: $500 • 3rd Place: $300
Four Honorable Mentions of $50 each will also be awarded.
All award winners will receive a certificate and be featured on the Guild website.
ENTRY FEE (Nonrefundable)
Artists Guild members:
$25 for one artwork and $5 for each additional work, up to three images.
$35 for one artwork and $10 for each additional artwork, up to 3 images.
(Sculpture can have three views for each entry.)
Entry fees must be paid by the entry deadline. Submit artwork online. Image submitted must be a true representation of the original. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
Entry fee is not refundable.

CONDITIONS OF ACCEPTANCE & AGREEMENTS
The following statements constitute an agreement between the artist and The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild. Any requirements (listed above) of the exhibit not fulfilled will result in disqualification. No exceptions will be made to these rules.
SALES: All artworks must be for sale through the close of the exhibition. All sales will go through the Online Juried Shows/Online Galley Shows or by calling 800-506-7624. Artists must ship a work within seven business days of it being sold. Artists will be required to provide the buyer and email@example.com with the tracking number.
Works will be listed at the prices set by the artist on entry. They are to be sold unframed. Prices should include estimated shipping costs within the continental united states . Once a work is submitted, there will be no change in title, medium, price, or artist’s name. Check your entry carefully before submitting. The Guild will take a 25% commission on all sales. This includes the commission paid to Online Juried Shows/Online Gallery Shows for handling sales.
Participating artists’ help in publicizing this exhibition is crucial. Artists will sell their works by reaching out to collectors, family, and friends via email, Facebook, Instagram, etc. OJS/OGS will email you marketing tips and recommendations. The success of this exhibition will depend upon the extra effort made by artists to attract buyers to the OnlineGalleryShows.com website to see your work.
Neither The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild, The San Diego Museum of Art, nor any of their employees or volunteers will be liable for loss or damage to any artwork incurred during shipping. Insurance, if desired, is the responsibility of the artist and the purchaser of the artwork.
The Artists Guild reserves the right to reproduce accepted artworks for the purpose of promoting the exhibition. This may include, but is not limited to, media, media outlets, posters, mailings, social media, and the Guild website.
This exhibition continues the Guild’s 107-year exhibition tradition. The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild is a nonprofit organization. Any money received from this exhibition is used to offset operating costs, including those incurred for running the exhibition. The remaining money is donated to the San Diego Museum of Art, under whose auspices the Guild operates, to assist with funding museum programs.
