  We invite you to participate in our upcoming
  
  Life Model Drawing Session
  
  at the San Diego Museum of Art.
  

   Community Open Studio Museum School Classroom
  
  

  Tuesday, August 18, 1-3 PM
  

  Come engage in figure drawing in the SDMA Museum Art Studio! Exercise and develop your drawing skills through observation of a live, clothed model while exploring your creativity. Drawing materials will be provided or you can bring your own. No oil paints or solvents please!

  These events are open to the public, so feel free to bring your friends.

  The group will be exploring an exhibition with the theme "Myths." Julie Weaverling, who will lead this project, proposed a 6-8 months process where participants will explore various myths, including Greek myths, family myths, and personal myths, bringing them into contemporary contexts rather than creating literal representations.

  The group will focus on the conceptual aspects of materials and process rather than illustrating myths directly, with plans to include collaborative pieces and allow the project to evolve naturally.

  "One Day in the Life of Newport Ave-Ocean Beach"

  Thursday August 20, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  Location: OB Beans - Coffee Roasters
  4879 Newport Avenue, Ocean Beach

  Basically, we will discuss the project parameters, potential
  and process and then take a stroll along Newport Avenue.
  We will get a lot of the history from Board member Mark-Elliott Lugo who has lived nearby for 56 years. Possibly we will
  visit the potential SHIFT Gallery for a future exhibit.

  This is different from Imperial Ave with its own distinct
  subculture and environment.
  
  We can also discuss possible future
  meeting dates and see how they sync with the
  "Myths" Zoom call.
