Artists Statement
“My background is in oil painting, drawing and woodblock printmaking, which I pursued for many years in the Midwest. I have always loved both drawing and painting. The directness, spontaneity and luminosity of watercolor allow me to use the best of both approaches. Lately, I've added other media to my work, including acrylic, pen, sumi and collage; also, I'm doing woodcut prints again. My subject matter starts with natural and figurative themes and works from there to realistic and abstracted images on paper.
