  Artist Keiko Tanabe

Born in Kyoto, Japan, Keiko is mostly self-taught.  In 2005, she started her professional career as a master watercolor artist.  Her paintings have been juried into exhibitions across America, Asia, and Europe, and gained world-wide recognitions. Her work has been purchased by private and corporate collectors from all around the world.  She also had her paintings published in leading art magazines in the U.S., Europe, and Japan, and has published several books and four DVD’s. A sought-after workshop instructor since 2011, she has conducted hundreds of workshops and live demonstrations around the world.  In 2018, she was appointed to the advisory board of the American Watercolor Weekly. She is a signature member of National Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society, American Impressionist Society and Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and has frequently served as a juror in art exhibitions on national and international levels.  Her website is:  www.ktanabefineart.com.

1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $200. 
Additionally, three Honorable Mentions will be awarded.  
All award winners will receive an Awards Certificate and be featured on
the Artists Guild website. 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Open to all current artist and associate members of The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild
  • All 2D media wall-hung work will be accepted - no sculpture, videos or other media requiring special installation. 
  • The MTRP Visitor Center accepts nature-related artwork only.  The artwork shown must reflect Southern/Northern California environment; its habitat, landscapes, cultural history, and/or wildlife.
  • Art may encompass all style genres.  
  • Submitted work must be the original work of the exhibiting artist and must not have been exhibited in an Artists Guild exhibition in the past. NO REPRODUCTIONS or GICLEES.
    No copies of other artists’ works will be accepted.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

    SIZE LIMITATIONS: Two-dimensional art shall not exceed 30 inches in width and 38 inches in height, including the frame. Gallery-wrapped artwork will be accepted if edges are painted. Art may not exceed 30 pounds. NO EXCEPTIONS.


SALES
All artwork must be for sale through the close of the exhibition. All sales will be handled by the MTRP Gift Shop.  No private sales are permitted.
   
All work will be listed at the price set by the artist.
Once a work is accepted, there will be no change in price.
Commission:  35% on all sales, 30% of that will go to MTRP and 5% to the Artists Guild.

Non-refundable ENTRY FEE

$25 for one artwork and $5 for each additional work, up to three images. 
No more than two works per artist will be juried into the exhibition. 
Entry fees must be paid by the entry deadline. 
Image submitted must be a true representation of the original. 
Acceptance is not guaranteed. Entry fee is not refundable.

Shipped artwork must be received by Tuesday, June 13.  

Shipping instructions will be supplied to accepted artists. 
June 18 - Sunday — Opening reception for artists and the public - 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. 
July 28 – Friday — Exhibition closes.  Pick up artwork between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

NO EXCEPTIONS. 


APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Entering Your Images:
  • Log into the Artist Guild website:  www.sdmaag.org
  • Then follow the link to the entry form hosted on the Artists Guild website using the EntryThingy service:
  • You will be required to log in on EntryThingy as well, or create an account if you do not already have one.
  • List sizes up to the nearest inch.
  • Submitted images must not include matting or frame.
  •  Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right side-up.
  • Images are required to be smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest sid at 72 dpi. Images are to be in JPEG format.

All artists will receive acceptance/non-acceptance notification by email after jury process is complete.  MTRP requires the artist to complete an Artists Consignment Agreement and Image Release Form which will be provided to the artist once he/she has been juried into the exhibition.  The entry form must be filled out completely and returned to MTRP.

Please review this prospectus carefully before submitting it. The information recorded on the entry form is considered final and may not be changed after it has been submitted. 

BY SUBMITTING TO THIS EXHIBITION, YOU ARE ACKNOWLEDGING THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS PROSPECTUS.


CONDITIONS OF ACCEPTANCE & AGREEMENTS
The following statements constitute an agreement between the artist and The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild.  Any requirements (listed above) of the exhibit not fulfilled will result in disqualification.  No exceptions will be made to these rules. 
Work that does not match the image submitted, or which is unprofessionally presented,
will not be installed. 

PRESENTATION 
Two-dimensional art must be appropriately framed, wired and ready to hang. Acetate coverings, brackets, quick-frames, or any type of device leaving exposed glass or Plexiglas will not be accepted. The Artists Guild will exclude any entry that presents unusual installation problems,
or is improperly framed. 


LIABILITY
By submitting the Entry Form, the artist acknowledges that all reasonable care will be taken to safeguard the artwork and the premises and said person accepts that the MTRP Visitors Center, The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild and its associates, directors, officers, and volunteers will not be responsible for any damage, injury, liability, loss or theft should any occur.
Insurance for artworks entered in this show is each individual artist’s responsibility. 

PROMOTION OF EXHIBITION

The Artists Guild reserves the right to use reproductions of accepted artwork for the purpose of promotion of the exhibit which may include media outlets, poster, mailings, Guild website and the MTRP website. 

This exhibition continues the Guild’s 108-year exhibition tradition.
The San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild is The San Diego Museum of Art’s (Museum) oldest Support Council and operates under the Museum’s 501(c)3 status - Federal I.D. #95-1696715. 

Any money received from the exhibition goes to operating costs, including costs for putting on the exhibition. The remaining money is given to the Museum to assist with funding for
Museum programs.
