Shuang Li

Artist's Bio
Born and grown up in China, Shuang Li received her B.A degree in Graphic Design and M.A in Art Theory & History in Beijing before moved to the United States in 1988. Shuang then received her Master of Fine Art degree from The Department of Art, University of Oregon.
Though trained as a graphic designer, Shuang has been solely focusing on transparent watercolor as her primary medium for a decade. Her watercolor landscapes are all in rich color and poetic atmosphere with striking scenes, clearly demonstrated the strong influences from traditional impressionism and late 19th century American artists such as John Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer. Shuang is also a true believer and practitioner of design principles developed by Edgar A Whitney. In addition, she has done years of additional work with Tony Couch, who is one of Ed Whitney’s most successful students and among the finest watercolor artists in America today.
Member of San Diego Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, California Watercolor Association, Shuang’s artworks have been favored by private collectors, regularly exhibited in art galleries and group shows in the west with many honorable awards.
After twenty years successful corporate career, Shuang now devotes all her time and energy into watercolor painting and teaching. With her extensive teaching experience from past, she currently teaches watercolor classes and workshops both domestic and internationally, while continue to find inspiration and polish her watercolor skills towards extraordinary. She lives with her husband in Escondido, California.
