These little dogs belong in the "They're so ugly they're cute" category.  They have no hair on their bodies but have tufts of hair fanning out from their tails and heads.  This was another inspirational piece that helped me develop an eye for dramatic poses with animals.  I find the diversity in animals so intriguing I try to capture that within the composition and highlight their uniqueness.  This approach is especially important when trying to capture their personalities in my pet portrait commission pieces.
