Self Portrait
Description
I loved my studio in Serra Mesa. It was a peninsula of windows. The morning light was beautiful. One day I was trying to think of what I would next like to paint. Coming up with a blank, I decided to paint a self portrait of me trying to figure out what to paint next. I placed a mirror to my side so that I could see myself. I placed a chair in the viewers area and sketched the rest of the room from that angle. The clothing that I painted myself wearing is quite sloppy. However, that is what I was wearing on the day I decided to tackle a self portrait.
I wanted to convey warmth in the painting. (Believe me when I say, many days it was beyond warm in that room) Wash upon wash of pale yellow/orange was added to the sunlight areas.
